How to use this calculator

Use the SWP calculator to test whether an investment corpus can support regular withdrawals over a chosen horizon. It combines starting corpus, monthly drawdown, expected return, and annual step-up in withdrawals to show sustainability and depletion risk.

1. Enter the starting corpus

This is the amount available for withdrawal at the beginning of the SWP plan.

2. Set the withdrawal pattern

Add the monthly withdrawal and the number of years you want the plan to run.

3. Add return and increase assumptions

Expected annual return drives growth, while annual withdrawal increase simulates rising income needs over time.

4. Review sustainability, not just final corpus

Check final corpus, depletion timing, and required corpus together before using the plan for retirement or passive cash flow decisions.

Frequently asked questions

Does the Rs / Dollar toggle convert my corpus automatically?

No. It changes the display unit only. Enter all corpus and withdrawal values in the same currency system.

What does corpus depletion mean?

It is the point at which the portfolio reaches zero during the modeled withdrawal plan.

Why is required corpus useful?

It gives you an approximate target corpus if the current amount is not enough to complete the full SWP plan.

Should I add annual withdrawal increase?

Use it if your future withdrawals are likely to rise over time, for example because of inflation or higher retirement spending.
